Live Music on Herrington Lake
About Mike Archer-
From the Midwest to the South and performing on cruise lines to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico and the Panama Canal, singer and musician Mike Archer has entertained audiences and crowds of all ages and nationalities. He always captures an audience whether playing solo, as a duo, or with a band. His vast knowledge of music genres and music history always amaze people.
Born in Fort Knox, KY, but growing up on the East Side of Indianapolis, Mike will always call Indiana his home. Besides music, Mike’s first loves were basketball and baseball. When the time came to choose one sport to specialize in, he decided on basketball.
At age 19 Mike walked into a music store and bought his first guitar. Mike became an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) All-American and received his scholarship and played basketball for Indiana University-Purdue University (IUPUI) in Indianapolis. He often returns to IUPUI basketball games to sing the National Anthem and perform during halftime. His cousin showed him how to play three chords and after much frustration of not getting his fingers to work properly, he stopped playing. Although, he never threw that guitar out, just vowed that someday he would learn to play. About eight years later he gave that guitar another try and the rest is history.
He was inspired by music he grew up listening to both country and rock. Artists such as John Mellencamp, Jimmy Buffett, Jim Croce and Bruce Springsteen are just a few.
In 2009 Mike recorded and released his first CD The Next Best Thing, his second CD released in 2014, Shoulda Coulda Woulda. His latest release was a single of the cover song Rhinestone Cowboy in 2016. He also recorded two music videos, one for each of his CD’s.
Mike’s music talents landed him jobs with Carnival and Disney Cruise Lines. He has had the privilege to open for such artists as George Straight, Joe Diffie, Billy Joe Royal, B.J. Thomas, Reba McEntire, Lee Ann Womack, Daryle Singletary and most recently Martina McBride and Nadirah Shakoor.
In the years to come, Mike wants to continue his success and expand his musical talents and share them at venues and concerts everywhere entertaining people.
Hope to see you Sunday for some live music on Herrington Lake.
